My walk is not being recorded

Open the Settings app, find Pawdometer, and check Location. For a full route the app needs location access while you are using it, and Precise Location needs to be on. If Precise Location is off, iOS only gives the app a rough area and the route cannot be drawn properly.

The route stops when I lock my screen

Recording continues in the background only if you allowed it. In Settings, set Pawdometer's location access to Always, and make sure Background App Refresh is on. Low Power Mode can also cut background activity, so turn it off before a long walk.

The distance looks wrong

GPS drifts. Tall buildings, dense trees, tunnels and bad weather all scatter the signal, and a scattered signal usually makes a walk look longer than it was. Starting the walk outdoors and giving the phone a few seconds to lock on before you set off gives a noticeably cleaner track. Keeping the phone in a pocket rather than a metal or heavily padded bag also helps.

Steps are not counting

Step data comes from your device's motion sensors. In Settings, check that Motion and Fitness is enabled for Pawdometer, and that Fitness Tracking is on under Privacy and Security. Step counts also come from the phone you carry, so a walk with the phone in a stroller or a bag on wheels will show fewer steps.

Nothing is showing up in Apple Health

Open the Health app, go to Sharing, then Apps, find Pawdometer, and turn on the categories you want written. Health permissions are granted per category, so it is common to have the connection on but one category still switched off.

Battery drains fast during walks

That is expected. Continuous GPS is one of the most power hungry things a phone does. Keeping the screen off during the walk makes a real difference, since the display usually costs more than the GPS itself.

Deleting a walk or all my data

You can delete an individual walk from your history inside the app. Your walks and your dog's profile are stored on your device, so deleting the app removes them.
